Welcome
to Jupiter Games, Ltd!
Jupiter Games, Ltd. is committed to bringing
you the next wave in unique video game experiences! After over ten
years of video game development, Jupiter Games, Ltd. is preparing to present
you with the next level of gaming excitement and adventure. As always,
our games are developed in house by our small group of designers, programmers,
writers and testers. In 2009 Jupiter Games, Ltd. moved all game development
to the Ren'Py visual novel engine platform. With the tools and support
Ren'Py provides, we are finally able to create games that previously existed
only in our imaginations. Remember, at Jupiter Games, Ltd. our first
priority is to make games we want to play ourselves.

Current Jupiter Games, Ltd. news and information:
09/25/2009: Blast from the past, isn't it? JGL is back with a new vision and mission. It's been a long time coming, namely something like seven years, but we're finally back with some fresh new ideas. Thanks to some amazing homebrew development tools, I've decided to go a totally different direction with the future of Jupiter Games. Rather than continuing to develop games that were never completed years ago in archaic programming languages, JGL will now step into the world of visual novels. For the most part, visual novels are somewhat like choose your own adventure games that have multiple branching events that effect multiple outcomes in the game. Those familiar with bishoujo games or the like will instantly understand what these are.
A few years ago I stumbled onto Ren'Py, a freeware visual novel development engine along with a great community of developers creating games to share with the world. These people were creating games that I had wished I was able to back when I first played classic bishoujo games like Runaway City and Three Sisters' Story. What was even more impressive was that the tools to create these games were totally free for anyone to use and could be learned by almost anybody with a story to tell. On top of that the community offered incredible support to people interested in creating their own games. Finally some of the game ideas I've had for years could begin to take shape.
I see this as an incredible opportunity. Programming for the interpreter doesn't seem to be all that difficult and a preliminary build of a small fraction of the first game is coming along nicely. Right now I'm setting up a small proof of concept demo to cut my teeth with, to see if this is really viable and something myself and the team want to invest serious time into. The game will not be bishoujo in nature, a difference to the original concept I had laid out. I have what I believe to be a much better idea for the game and it does not involve bishoujo elements.
. . .
On a side note I have some official business to post. As of today, September 25th, 2009 - the following previously released / unreleased Jupiter Games, Ltd. software listed below is hereby released back to their original creator(s). This means that JGL will no longer host these programs and/or files as their rights have reverted back to their original creator(s).
Soviet Assault
Siamese Killers
Condition: Red (Alpha Release 1.1)
WaveMAN Sound Utility 1.0 (incomplete)
WaveMAN Sound Utility 2.0 (incomplete)
JupterTools Development Suite (incomplete)
Jupiter Drop! (unreleased)
Jupiter Games Java (unreleased)
Soviet Assault II (unreleased)
Condition: Red - "Final Release" Development
Fork (unreleased)
Circuit Breaker (unreleased)
The way this works is many of these games were collaborations of specific departments such as programming, game design, graphics design, etc. In cases such as this, the program code would revert back to the original programmer, the game concept would revert to the game designer and so forth. Effectively this breaks nearly all previous releases from JGL with the exception of Siamese Killers which reverts back in its entirety. This also effectively ends the eleven year partnership that JGL was founded under. Anyone curious as to how the programs are divided up needs only look at the copyright information contained within each program, it's all pretty cut and dry.
I nor JGL will distribute in whole or in part any of the above applications. Essentially this is a call to "let it be" and allow the above applications to fade out into the public domain (if anyone has copies anymore that is). One final master archive will be kept for prosperity but it will not be distributed for any reason. The final archive will contain the programs as they were last made available here, without any modifications, as a record of what rights belong to whom. Basically it's the end of the ride for something that should have been sewn up and left in the past many years ago.
. . .
On a related note, the above also means
that I am the sole head of Jupiter Games, Ltd. going forward. This
won't make much difference from how things have been since 2001 but it
does allow me to grow the "company" of sorts how I see fit and move JGL
into the modern era. No more partnerships going forward, however
credit will always be given where credit is due. JGL will act as
a publisher and overseeing organization that in a nutshell pulls together
the different parts of a game to give it a solid foundation. The
first thing to change is a new logo that will be 100% of our own design
and copyright, fixing the last remaining legal hiccup before a JGL game
can go into wide release. While I would love to keep Sailor Jupiter
around, and more than likely will do so here at the site for the time being,
we simply can't use that character design in anything we release or any
promotional materials. It simply isn't mine and I know that.
Those who may have visited the site in the past will probably notice that
these changes have already begun to happen, namely with the title graphic
at the top right of the page.
Thank you.
