SailorMoon S Blocks Puzzle Game
(Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon S - Kondo ha Puzzle de Oshiokiyo!)

Most agree with me that this is the weakest of all the entries in the Sailor Moon games library on the Super Famicom.  The game is a bit like Puzzle Fighter mixed with Minesweeper mixed with Bejeweled.  The objective is to work a series of colored blocks so that similar colors will be chained together.  The larger the chain, the more that is eliminated with a single move.  The main objective is to clear out your side before your rival empties theirs.  At first play the best strategy may seem to attempt to rapidly eliminate blocks but that's only a small part of it.  This is a much more relaxed pace puzzle game with deep planning required for success.  Slowly plotting how to set up those last few blocks so you can clear out your well can be strangely satisfying.  I think that's the biggest problem with this title, it plays VERY slow during the later moments of each game.  This was also the first Sailor Moon video game I ever purchased the physical cartridge of.  Check it out but remember, play slow.

Selected Screen Shots:

The mode selection screen has some awesome scratchin' DJ Sailor Moon background music. Sailor Venus launches a distraction attack early on against Chibiusa, hoping to gain an advantage.

Sailor Mars takes a victory, tying the score up one to one.  The chibi character sprites look great. There are also single player modes with a larger well.  While they are challenging, they play even slower.

Let's book it!
