It all began with the manga.  Before Sailormoon became an anime series, it was a comic art series, both spawned from the original manga Codename is Sailor V.  After their individual manga magazine runs the stories were collected and published in book form, eighteen volumes for Sailormoon and three volumes for Sailor V.

In the United States, Mixx (later TokyoPop) began translating the original manga works and making them widely available to the English speaking public.  It was one of the first manga series that Mixx attempted to localize and the result was pretty, well, mixed.  While it was great to have the manga in English, they took a lot of liberties with the translation and printing.  Initially the translation began in Mixxzine, then on to a monthly comic, and then moved to Smile magazine.  After the initial English publication, the series was reprinted in book form, consisting of eighteen volumes across three series.  There were eleven volumes under "Sailor Moon," four volumes under "Sailor Moon SuperS," and three volumes under "Sailor Moon Stars," more or less following the original eighteen Japanese books.  In 2005 these would go out of print and command a high value until a later English re-translation and re-print would be created.

In 2003 a "renewal" edition of the manga was created in Japan.  Some artwork was touched up and some dialogue was corrected.  Additionally the chapters were redistributed with more in each volume and the side stories moved to their own separate volumes.  The complete re-release totaled fourteen volumes (twelve for the main series and two volumes of short stories).  In 2004 the same enhancement treatment was given to Codename is Sailor V, being re-released in two volumes.

In 2011 Kodansha USA began to release a completely new and more accurate English translation of the manga, based upon the 2003 Japanese "renewal" edition.  Along side the new English Sailormoon release, for the first time ever, Codename is Sailor V was also released in English, based on the 2004 Japanese re-issue.  The new English volumes are set to be released bimonthly.

Here you will find cover scans of the all the Sailormoon manga I own.  I'm going to keep it restricted to the English translated stuff as there are far better resources that have kept up on the Japanese manga more than I have.  I no longer have the book form Mixx translated manga as I sold it all off in anticipation of the new English release.  While the Mixx translations commanded a hefty value for awhile, with the new translation I can see them becoming next to worthless.  However my Mixx / Tokyopop individual issues will stay with me and scans of their covers can be found here.
